Let’s talk time management! As a Virtual Assistant I find myself working with several different clients each week, so time management is extremely important for me to ensure I can complete all contracted work on time! So managing my time properly is critical for me.
How much are you really getting done each day? Do you keep track of what needs to be done, or do you just ‘go with the flow’?
Here are my top three tips for managing time in your day efficiently:
ONE:
At the end of each day take 10 minutes to plan the next day. Do this before you mentally check out for the day so you can complete it within ten minutes and without missing important details.
– What are your priorities that need to be done? These are things that have to happen tomorrow. An example may be paying your staff or contractors as this occurs on a particular day each pay period.
– What tasks are not as important? These may be things that can be done at any time, not urgently the following day.
– Do you have any prior engagements for the day? Maybe you have a Skype meeting booked with a potential client or meeting a friend for lunch.
TWO:
Don’t just answer the phone because it is ringing or answer an email because it’s there. Turn your voice mail on and ignore your inbox for at least the first hour of your day. Take this time to really focus on your priorities. You can even consider scheduling specific time in tour day to return calls and respond to emails (for example 11am and 4pm)
THREE:
Turn off all social media and instant messaging notifications. Being always available is a time zapper! Avoid this if at all possible! Click here to see a list of services that Eventful Solutions can take off your hands!
